What You Need to Know

SUMMARY OF ISSUES WITH JEFF PIETERS & ASSOCIATES

I retained Jeff Pieters on 1/3/17 where I delivered his first check for $5,000.  To date I have personally written checks to Jeff Pieters totaling $68,846.  My Partners have advanced him another $4550, bringing the total received by him to almost $75,000.

Yesterday 7/10/17, Jeff Pieters walked off the job and refused to complete the work he had contracted for and for which he was already paid.

Originally this job was promised a completion time of 4/30/17, I would check in every week as I continued to write Jeff checks and he always told me we were on schedule.  By March, I was getting concerned as there was much work still to be done and the estimated completion date was coming within 4 weeks.  Jeff then asked to move the completion date to May 26.  We agreed…. This charade continued until May, when it was obvious we were nowhere near completion, he asked to move to June 15.  June 15 came and went and we are still a long ways from completion.  Just last week Jeff Pieters asked us for an advance of $150 so that he could purchase nails and paint to finish the fence.  He’s received almost $75,000 from me yet doesn’t have the money to pay for minimal basic materials.  He also told us he did not have the money to pay for additional labor help.

  • Walked off the job after being paid $75,000 of our $84,000 bid contract

  • Paid for allocations that we were told would go to purchasing specific supplies, but later found out were not used to purchase those supplies (IE: Window Material)

  • Revisited allocations, budgets and timelines with Jeff Pieters more than 3 times. Each time asking if he would be able to finish on time and on budget with each change. He answered yes each time.

  • Jeff Pieters consistently missed individual milestones.

  • Original completion date was April 30  (he then asked to move it May 26, than to June 15)

  • Several times, we’ve had to pay out of pocket for additional labor help for Jeff, when he told us he didn’t have enough money to hire a helper.
